This system means you no longer require Power to start constructing a building. Deactivated buildings provide no benefits but also consume no Power, which means you don't necessarily need enough power to operate all your buildings simulateneously - if you want to run your Alloy Forge for a bit, you could temporarily deactivate your Defence Batteries, etc. Base Building Disabled states: it is now possible to deactivate base buildings that require Power.Provided you are taking advantage of this system, new recruits will level up much faster at the end of the game than they did at the start - which means it's not completely crippling when you lose a veteran soldier on a mission. The rate of training is relatively slow at the start of the game but as you learn more about your enemies through autopsies and interrogation of captured aliens, your training becomes more effective. This is now a passive system where each soldier at a base gains a certain amount of progress in all of their skills each day provided there is enough training space available for them to use. Training System: the soldier training system has been reimplemented.This is a vest worn under the normal armour that provides a small bonus to the soldier, which can be anything from a small increase in Armour to improved strength and mobility to a small amount of automatic healing each turn. Be careful not to shoot your own guy on your turn, since the UI considers him an enemy (I've killed my own guy before by mistake). Use this turn to either move as far out of range or sight as possible, flashbang, or smoke the place. The alien mind controls the soldier, then it's your turn. IIRC, the aliens only get 1 turn out of your mind controlled soldier. I don't know if they will use the rocket launcher or not. They will not throw grenades under mind control and IIRC they will not use melee attacks. Sucks if you have dread on top of the TU you gotta spend to pick the weapons back up. Honestly I've been too lazy/principled to do it, but it can work. Some players combat mind control by dropping all weapons at the end of each turn. I got mind controlled 3 times in a row at some point.Īnother thing, I'm doing pretty well budget-wise and I think I have a good air-game. Is the Alien Ticker capped? Will I be seeing a whole platoon of Elites? Can I still recover or should I just give up and start another run? I'll probably modify the psi a bit because that was just ridiculous. I tried to at least win with my remaining soldiers but they all got one shotted, lol. Another one got one shotted by a Praetor. 5 soldiers remain and one more got mind controlled and killed my Predator soldier. I keep avodoiding the mind controlled soldier but combined with Dread I can't seem to escape. Once I reached the top floor 4 of my guys died from 3 mind controls and 1 berserk. A Caesan one shotted my soldier in a Sentinel armor behind another soldier in a sentinel armor with a shield. Once I enter the UFO it's a different game. I killed all the aliens outside the UFO losing a Hyperion and getting one of my men lightly injured. ![]()
